“Thanks mumma.” Ruby watches him as he makes his confession, holding his gaze even with the small, teasing bite that makes her lips quirk in a smile. She starts tracing his face carefully, memorizing each feature.
“You are what an alpha should be. What every other alpha should strive to be. You should never be ashamed of what you are.” She pressed a soft kiss to his nose. “I know what it’s like to not be what people expect. You never have to be anything except yourself when you’re with me.”
"I'll let her know that her work has been appreciated." She smiles and his stomach lurches. Is it just attraction that makes him wish this would never end, or a desire for something more from her? He's not sure.
He's excited to find out though, and that's a nice realization.
He closed his eyes as she kissed his nose, smiling softly. "I'll try and remember that." Next time he's full of self-loathing for a designation he'd never have chosen on his own, revulsion at his own innate alpha-ness. "I don't know how to be anything else, anyone else."
"I'm sure she'll like to hear it." Ruby is already so smitten and she wants the night to never end. Well, maybe it doesn't need to. There's no reason they can't try.
Kissing him again. And then again. Just because she can. And then she cups his face gently and encouraged him to open his eyes and look at her. "You don't have to be. I don't want you to be."
He tilts his face into her palms, first the left and then to the right, before he opens his eyes and actually looks at her. It seems dangerous, in a soft way, in a way that means he won't struggle as he drowns in it. Drowns in her.
"It's going to be hard to leave later." He kisses her back, just as sweet, before pulling her lower lip in between his teeth for a very gentle nibbling. "I want to make a joke about you having to chase me off with a broom, but..." He can't quite make it funny in his internal monologue.
"I never said you had to leave." It was the last thing he wanted, to chase him off and make him leave. Realistically, she knows he'll have to because life goes on and they can't hide away in her apartment forever. But for now there's no rush, no one else, no outside world they needed to be a part of.
Cassian goes quiet for a moment, throat working but no sound making it's way past his lips. His hold doesn't get any lighter, however, and his eyes show that he's overtaken with an intense emotional reaction to her words - in both languages.
"True, you never said that." He swallows and nods. "Si. Por supuesto."
Ruby smiles before she kisses him again. She'd heard rumours, heard people claim that they always knew when someone was the one they were meant to find but she'd always brushed it off as romantic dribble that people said when they were in love.

And then she'd met Cassian.
"Good. Because I don't ever want to let you go."
